What is BHP?

This is a measure of power or how much ‘work’ a car's engine can do. The more power, the faster the car will be.

Brake-horsepower (BHP) is, in car terms, effectively the same as horsepower. Horsepower was created to compare the effectiveness of steam engines against horses. However, BHP takes into account that an engine loses energy due to friction.
